Fargo - Moorhead Weather
Summer: Sunshine & Patio Season
Summers in Fargo-Moorhead are sunny, warm, and made for being outside. With temps often in the 80s (and occasionally tipping into the 90s), you’ll find locals out walking, biking, hitting up food trucks, or catching an outdoor concert. It’s prime time for festivals, farmers markets, lake weekends, and lazy evenings on a patio with friends.
What to wear: T-shirts, shorts, sunglasses. Maybe a ballcap. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Fall: Sweater Weather, Midwest Style
Autumn is the showoff of the year. Cooler temps and colorful trees make fall a favorite season for many locals. It’s perfect for apple picking, football games, crisp morning walks, and—let’s be honest—flannel everything. You’ll feel the community come alive with events, cozy vibes, and plenty of pumpkin-flavored treats.
What to wear: Layers. A good jacket. And yes, your favorite hoodie still works.
Winter: Cold? Sure. Quiet? Not a Chance.
Winters here are no joke—we’ll give you that. It gets cold (often below zero), it snows (sometimes a lot), and we’ve all got strong opinions about the best brand of mittens. But you know what? We lean into it.
From sledding hills to snowshoe trails, hockey rinks to curling clubs, winter is packed with activity. Events like Frostival celebrate the season with outdoor fun, and the city stays buzzing with indoor concerts, theater, breweries, and more. Life doesn’t stop when it snows—we just put on a better coat.
What to wear: Parka. Hat. Gloves. Boots. Long underwear if you’re feelin’ fancy.
Spring: A Little Slushy, A Lot of Hope
Spring arrives with a slow melt, a few muddy weeks, and a whole lotta optimism. It’s when patios re-open, runners return to the sidewalks, and tulips start poking through the last of the snow. We’ve earned it, and we celebrate it—sometimes even in shorts when it’s only 50 degrees. (Don’t judge us.)
What to wear: Rain jacket, light sweater, whatever makes you feel hopeful.
