I moved here from San Diego in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, while looking for a lower cost of living and a new career. At the time there was very little for me to do, but I grew to love the FM community more and more as the pandemic lifted and I got out into the community. I found that new career in Non Profit work, but I have even gotten my feet wet in the theatre/film community as well which has linked me to my roots.

Besides my work as a Job Counselor at Rural MN CEP, I am proud to be a volunteer as an English Language Tutor for Moorhead Adult Basic Education. I also am heavily involved in my church community as a Youth Leader, singer, and other ministries. I am involved in the Deaf community and Mental Health community as an advocate, and love working with kids with disabilities specifically.

I LOVE to watercolor and paint. I also love to antique and shop, drink tea, sew a bit, sing, and see/participate in theatre.

On a free day, I would go to a coffee shop or somewhere scenic to paint, hang out with friends over dinner or games, see a theatre show, and definitely stop somewhere in my day to pray.

Why Our Region is Unique

Coming from living in two huge cities (San Diego and Los Angeles) for most of my life, it’s got both a small town feel and enough to keep you busy even through the colder months. The people are wonderful, and if you’re craving something bigger/smaller, both are within a few hours drive, maximum. If you’re looking to make a difference, the size and attitude of the people makes change possible. It’s also wonderfully diverse for the size and location, speaking as a mentally ill, queer, and Latina woman, I don’t feel othered or isolated..
